Researching using books.Using your school or local community library is a great place to complete research because some of the most influential, in depth and trustworthy books are not available for free on the internet. Authors and academics must make money to live, and so to do this they charge people for their work.

Here are some tips about how to complete research using books.
- Use your librarian - A librarian can help you find books which cover the topic you are researching. There will probably be a whole section of the library dedicated to your subject so using the library search engine (and your keywords) will help you identify the books you should be looking at.
- Use the contents and index in the book - Usually books have a contents page at the front and an index at the back. This will help you find the page numbers where your keywords appear. You can then turn to those pages and research your topic further.
- Check the date - Science has developed extremely quickly over the last 100 years. It is always good to make sure you check the publishing date of a book. Anything over 20 years old may have to be verified using more recent research.
